The original title was Pandora's Box; it is about childhood gone up in smoke along with the long-gone people, pets and toys that were loved back then. It is about the events you can't rewind and the innocence you can't ever get back.
Hmm, I guess the Seattle rain is making me gloomy today :-)

so, so pretty!
Really sweet! Great work.
oh, wow, really good.
reminds me of the velveteen rabbit in story....nice illo still!
I feel your work very special and beautiful!
Beautiful! Love the textures especially of the background. I also like the way you've depicted the girl and the cats; to me it felt more curious then gloomy...
The colour and texture is great!

You've captured that mood very well, beatrice, from the colours and the hidden face...and the 'evaporating' swirls. The sadness in this piece can be felt, but hopefully, the sun will shine again soon for you! It's a beautiful piece :)
very interesting!
saludos!
Wow, this is sad, but beautifully so. Sad things actually can make me feel better sometimes, so thanks.
sad but lovely
beautiful!
Hiya Beatrice...
This is a very beautiful evocation of pain and loss.
And while it's sad, and stirring, there's also a ton of positive, uplifting stuff in the pic.
For me, the tendrils of smoke from the burning childhood are also shatfs of energy floating into the future, permeating the air that surrounds that person.
It's a way of saying that our childhood stays with us all through our lives. And yes... there are horrible things as well as good. But we can take what we want from our memories, since they're insubstantial. They are smoke.
Thanks for the pic.
Blue skies
love

PS: Here's my take on '
Smoke'.
Maybe it’s not sad but full of emotion.
Quite extraordinary! I love the colors and the textures. So nice. Thanks for sharing it.
Beautiful illustration! I adore your style of painting.
